How to use the Markup Calculator

Formula

Markup % = Profit ÷ Cost × 100. Selling price = Cost × (1 + Markup % ÷ 100). A ₹400 item with 50% markup sells for ₹600 — which is a 33.33% margin.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my margin lower than my markup?

Margin divides profit by the (larger) selling price, markup by the (smaller) cost.

What markup gives a 25% margin?

33.33%. In general markup = margin ÷ (100 − margin) × 100.

Does it include GST?

Work without GST, then add GST on the selling price.
